"For rack mount effects I use the Eventide ultra harmonizer H3000S and the quadroverb. These two effects are working brilliant together for me. I use the effects loop from the heads so that they sound the best and the order is quadroverb into eventide back to head. The Eventide is a much superior unit and its stereo imaging is phenominal so i put it last in the chain. For floor effects I use the guitar plugging in to a boss flanger, MXR phaser, ibanez analogue delay, uni vibe chorusing effect, and then the cord goes to the rat then eq then Y cord then imputs on amp... This order works great for me! [...] I use Marshall 100 watt tops, with built in effects loops, on top of basic 4 x 12 marshall cabs. for my basic sound I plug the guitar into the rat distortion box and then into an equalizer which I keep flat and only use the level knob which is on 10. As for my guitars I like guitars that are built out of Mahogany, my Hamer flying V is this way. And I use PAF pro pick ups and Ibanez edge tremolo bars. This is what I get to use the basic rythm sound except that I also use the 7 string guitar by Ibanez. Which is tuned to A#." From around the time of the formulas album release. Pics of his guitars and amps coming soon....

Continuing on to his guitars and amps... bc rich ironbird (international series)The Ironbird he's known for is actually a Rave/International series(very low end 80's models, probably plywood, which he's routed for a Floyd(like all his guitars) and installed a PAF Pro in the bridge position in. Not sure what the single coil is, he's changed that twice to my knowledge. The neck has been swapped on that Ironbird a couple times too, now he has a custom made neck with a reverse headstock(notice the lack of a headstock logo in newer live pìcs?). ibanez universe 7 stringersBlack/green UV7BK, a slightly newer UV7BK(with no green accents, just a green pickguard). Other ibanez 7 strings He has a modern UV7(Vai/pyramid style), and an RG7620. jackson warrior wrxt charvel star Hamer vectorPlays/played a red and a black Hamer Vector(V in the rapture video), both also routed for Floyds with PAF Pro's. ibanez RG, the orange 6 stringerTwo JCM 900 Dual Reverb Heads He uses a lot of analog effects too, and a Univibe(rotating speaker effect), and I'm pretty sure he still has an MXR Phase somewhere in his FX loop. He used to use the ibanez lopro edge but now he has on some guitars the Schaller lo pro (also known as floyd rose III)

Sure, there is a huge difference in sound between models, just like everything else. But there is no mention of it in the article and no pic. And what I've seen of the Wacken show I don't hear one. There is a pretty big board on the floor but you cannot tell what is on it. It's definately interesting.

as far as i remember hearing, i think its just an original crybaby wah i can't remember where i heard/saw this.
Are you just wondering or are you trying to emulate his sound?

No, it's just very interesting to me. Trey's live lead sound is amazing and as much as I'd like to emulate that I lose it right around the price of that ultra harmonizer and there is no substitute. I have found quadra verbs all day long for 150 US and all the rest of it is pedestrian but that Eventide unit is the breaker. I was told the wah he uses is a Bad Horsie but that has never been confirmed and after reading several reviews it's hard to believe because supposedly they don't cut through heavy o.d. etc. very well. So I ordered one to find out. I'll know next week on that one.

Yeah it is. And get a load of the one with the UniVibe. Hammered. Those pictures are dated '04 though. I dont think his stuff is the same even today. I was wrong though. There is some serious wah going on in this video: youtube.com/watch?v=6QW0-5tkh8UThat is Wacken '06 The pedal board is cleaned up and the rack is cleaned out. But the sound is impeccable.

Alrighty then, I actually got the Bad Horsie 2 and today I can say I need this pedal. When I first got it I was going to return it almost immediately. Mainly because if you are in contour mode and step on it do not stand in front of your amp. There is a boost that will make your head hurt for hours after a couple blasts.(I am a slow learner ) It has taken a week, but I get it now. It's a power. You can create inumerable squacks and squeals and it does AMAZING things to pinch harmonics. I mean SCREAMING and sustaining and I am not kidding or exaggerating this is the coolest shit ever. I wondered for a long time, Trey is doing those pick slides on the unwound strings and that bird is squealing and singing. I wonder no more. A little chorus and the wah with the level cranked and the contour about 3/4 and my warlock is screaming and making all sorts of wild harmonics and stuff. It's like playing a volcano or some shit. It's got to be where that Lava biz came from because that is true. Cool pedal. Extremely noizy but too cool to be annoying ever. If you enjoy extreme guitar weirdness you must have this pedal. Have a nice day
