I find most pop music nowadays is very unoriginal and quite distasteful. This is my opinion of course. I leave most of it for the teenie bopping, trashy, bar skanks. There are however some artists that come out in the pop scene that I think are damn good at what they do and have a unique/original talent to them. I was going to go on a huge rant on how alot of pop music all sounds the same and is so generic. However, each and every genre has that. So really it would be pointless to even mention anything about. Infact it was completely pointless for me to even mention the fact that I wanted to rant about the cookie cutters of the industry because its pointless I also find myself completely amazed by alot of the acoustic artists that are out there. City and Colour being a prime example. Amazing talent in my eyes. If there was a sound I would go after in the folk/acoustic genre it would be theirs. City and Colour is good, they would be even better if they threw some electric in there and some drums. It would be like alexisonfire (which is ok) but without the screamo crap. Saw them in concert and the best parts were the clean ones. What you said about pop was right, its meant for lowlife gutter trash, aka bar sluts. Cant stand it, or the image it gives. No wonder kids are the way they are these days. For something totally unrelated, i just thought I would point out the fact that we grew up without computers!! Can you imagine what our kids will think of that, considering right now i have a pc and 2 laptops running in the living rooom (no im not a nerd ). Its like how our parents had 3 channels and were black and white.... i dont think anyone could imagine that nowdays.

LOL I cannot imagine not having a pc and the internet. Infact I don't recall what I used to do to fill the time....Wow, I have become so dependant on my pc and internet. Fuck, its worse than a crack addiction.
LOL, I remember being in grade 1 in sprucedale school and being completely submered in using a commodre 64 with a color screen, playing bernstein bears math games.
Load "*",8,1
(For any of you that used one of these fuckers, commodore 64 that is, You KNOW what I am talking about with my last comment)
Is it scary when I remember when CD ROM's came out and that the first time I used a pc that had it was in grade 5 in Hillcrest school? I also remember when email was used in more of a dos style format program on the pc when I was in grade 7 in St.Joes...
Fuck I remember too much sometimes, which is shocking really. You'd think I would have fried all my brain cells after all the drugs and booze I have consumed over the years (which I no longer do, besides the odd glass of wine here and there).
In refrence to City and Colour. The reason I like them so much is because it isn't Alexisonfire. Its so diverse on comparason. I love the folk aspect of the music. Very original and very unique in chord progressions and his singing voice. Quite stellar.
If you get the newest CD Dallas now has drums and a wider array of instruments used. FYI Dallas uses and electric guitar, A gibson infact (BB King style guitar) with a clean tone in his albums.
Don't get my started on gets these days. I do agree with you. Media is such a fucking bastard, I hate it.

This sounds horrid......for those who care
CHRIS CORNELL Not Concerned About Possible Backlash Over TIMBALAND-Produced Album - Mar. 5, 2009 Former SOUNDGARDEN/AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell told RollingStone.com that he's not particularly concerned about a possible backlash over his decision to put away the guitar in favor of continuous dance grooves and hip-hop beats on his new solo album, "Scream".
"At this point, it's all theory," he said. "It's like when I got together with the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guys for AUDIOSLAVE and there was all this talk about how it was sacrilege from RAGE fans, SOUNDGARDEN fans — even old ladies on the street would come up to me and say, 'That's a terrible idea!' Maybe I'm an optimist or just an idiot but I really think the fans will come around to the concept. I could sit down and make a wall-to-wall guitar album tomorrow. I think it's important for fans to know that but if I'm doing something that inspires me musically then I think it will inspire someone else too."
Due on March 10 via Interscope/Mosley Music, "Scream" "showcases a new, seductive sound — dark, multi-layered and full of puzzles and surprises," according to a press release. "The songs bring a new cinematic scope to Cornell's performances, with potent visual imagery echoing the non-stop musical assault from his internationally acclaimed live band." "Musically, this is the most ambitious thing I've been a part of. It's almost like a movie soundtrack," says Cornell.
